Dr. Phil Maynard has served as Director, Path 1 Coaching Network (Discipleship Ministries) Director, Excellence in Ministry Coaching (www.emc3coaching.com) and Director, Coach Training for Leaders (www.empowercoaches.com). Before taking an early retirement to enter a full-time ministry of coaching, consulting, and training, Phil served as Director of Congregational Excellence for the Florida Conference of the United Methodist Church.Phil is a certified coach , an Endorsed coach (UMEA), a certified Conflict/Mediation Coach, and licensed trainer/facilitator. Dr. Larry Ousley is the Executive Director of the Intentional Growth Center (IGC). Before coming to IGC in 2000, he served as senior pastor of several large churches in the Holston Conference of theUMC.He is a life coach recognized through the International Coach Federation (ICF) as an Associate Certified Coach (ACC) in 2004 and as a Professional Certified Coach (PCC) in 2010. Larry is also an Endorsed Life Coach by the United Methodist Endorsing Agency, is a Certified Organizational Relationship Systems Coach (ORSCC), and is a faculty member and a mentor coach on an ICF approved international coaching school.He was an author in the anthology—Ministry 3.0: How today’s church leaders are using coaching to transform ministry. Larry has lead approximately 10 long-term group leadership coaching projects and has over 1,500 hours of experience coaching pastors, district superintendents, and conference staff persons.
Dr Jim Robey
Dr. Jim Robey is a minister and a Professional Certified Coach, and was the first United Methodist clergy to be officially endorsed for the Ministry of Life Coaching. He is the Executive Director for ATTENTIONAL GROWTH INC, a non-profit organization he founded in 2004. Jim is a renowned speaker, seminar leader, teacher, minister and coach with a profound commitment to help others grow in their work and life. He was a coach for Path 1 working with a new church pastor in Montana. His ministry takes him across the United States and the world to work with a variety of church and non-profit groups.Jim earned his Doctor of Ministry degree from Emory University in Atlanta, Georgia, and is a graduate of the Co-Active Leadership Program of the Coaches Training Institute in California. He is passionate about bringing coaching more fully into the church and beyond into the world. Included in his coaching is his humor, life experiences, 38 years of ministry, love for God and the church, and profound commitment to helping grow others in their ministry and connection to God. He is also working with new coaching partners in Ireland, England, Kenya, South Africa and Swaziland to expand the impact of coaching for church and business leaders there. Jim coaches ministers, laypersons and church leaders from many different denominations around the world who are motivated to grow in life and ministry. An avid global traveler, who once worked with Mother Teresa in Calcutta, Jim brings a passion for equipping new leaders for the world-wide church. “My passion is to equip a generation of Christian leaders with coaching skills that will grow the Kingdom of God!” Jim and his wife Betty live in Georgia.
Kim Shockley is currently serving the United Methodist Church as the Team Leader for a research project called Toward Vitality. This 18 month project, sponsored by four General Agencies (GBOD, GCFA, GCORR & UMCOM), is learning how churches change to be in mission and ministry in new ways. Through interviewing vital congregations across the country and coaching churches in the midst of change, this study will affect how we resource local congregations in the years to come!Kim worked for the East Central District in the FL Conference from 2005 – 2010 as the Congregational Excellence Coordinator. She also served the Western Pennsylvania Conference as the Media Resource Director from 1996 – 2005. Kim holds a Master’s degree in Christian Education from Ashland Theological Seminary and is a Certified Christian Educator of the United Methodist Church. Kim and her husband wrote Imagining Church – Seeing Hope in a World of Change, published by Alban Institute in 2009. She and Paul Nixon (I Refuse to Lead a Dying Church) recently submitted a manuscript to Abington Press for publication in 2013: The Surprise Factor – Gospel Strategies for Changing the Game at Your Church.She is the wife of Rev. Gary A Shockley, currently the Executive Director of Path 1 – New Church Starts Division of the General Board of Discipleship. Together, they have two young adult sons – Aaron and Jake.
Donald A Jamison
Don Jamison currently serves as the Senior Pastor at Sydenstricker UMC in Springfield, Virginia. He is an Ordained Elder of the Virginia AnnualConference and is the Chair of the Board of Discipleship for the Virginia Annual Conference. Don owned his own company prior to ministry and has traveled much of the country as a consultant. His company worked with mid-sized to fortune 500 companies where he worked on team building,organizational development, logistics and revitalization. In the fifteen years as a Pastor he has worked with churches on revitalization, discipleship and church growth including Dr. Maynard's approach toMembership to Discipleship. He has helped churches understand how to assess where they are and how to assist them in using the tools available to become re-vital and fruitful. Don has a passion for church re-vitalization amongexisting churches as the path to a revival of our church.In his spare time he enjoys a round of golf, a relaxing afternoon with friends or he and his wife spend time with his children and grandchildren.
Reverend Amanda Miller Garber
Reverend Amanda Miller Garber is the Chief Instigator and Pastor of RISE, a five year old faith community in Harrisonburg,Virginia (check out riseharrisonburg.com). RISE emerged from a 50-year-old campus ministry and is now a vital and vibrant faith community. It has connected with a multitude of college students and young adults and mends God's creation together in powerful ways.Amanda is passionate about creative, bold and entrepreneurial ministry, and she truly enjoys coaching and consulting with visionary, risk-taking leaders. She has completed the Path 1 coaching training taught by Phil Maynard, and has greatly enjoyed journeying with church planters across the nation.Amanda has been married to an all-around-great-guy named Jack for almost twenty years. They have two children, Abigail and Robert. When she isn't busy planting churches and starting things, she enjoys running long distances, gardening and playing in the dirt, and occasionally sleeping past 7 am.
Eddie Pipkin has 30 years in ministry experience at churches in Georgia and Florida, primarily in the United Methodist Church. His ministry leadership includes stints in youth and children's ministry, creative worship design, outreach and missions, communications, special event coordination, and leadership development. He currently resides in Orlando, Florida. His original careers were in journalism and teaching at the college level, and he has a Master's Degree in English from the University of Central Florida (with an emphasis in creative writing). He also has worked as an independent editor, and he has an alter-ego known as the Rapping Lamb. He is an avid cyclist, outdoorsman and pie aficionado.
Amanda Landry has a lifetime of experience in the United Methodist Church. As a “preacher’s kid”, she worked several summers on the leadership team at a United Methodist Youth Camp in Florida. She went on to get her Bachelor’s Degree in Education, and to teach and direct at a United Methodist Preschool. She resides in Jensen Beach, FL where her most recent ministry opportunity was as Director of Discipleship at a local UMC, before leaving that position to work full-time for EMC3 Coaching.
