What if you or the churches in your District/Conference knew the best practices for building healthy church systems?

What difference could that make in creating maturing disciples, reaching new people, designing engaging worship, and meeting real needs in the surrounding community?

Bring the Shift training to your church or District or Conference…start a conversation about how to do church well. Think about the impact that could be made if your churches could make the shifts to:

Shift 2.0
  • Radical Hospitality
  • Authentic Relationships
  • Passionate Worship
  • Intentional Discipleship
  • Impactful Service
  • Extravagant Generosity

Based on Phil Maynard’s widely-acclaimed book Shift 2.0: Helping Congregations Back Into the Game of Effective Ministry, EMC3 offers several opportunities to equip pastors, church leadership teams, and congregations with the skills to build healthy church systems and impact more lives.

While many congregations are using the book Shift as a resource for leadership team conversations, EMC3 also offers partnerships for bringing this training to your area:

Shift Leadership Training

Bring the Shift workshops as continuing education for the clergy in your District and/or Conference. Usually scheduled every other month or quarterly, the workshops are the focus of clergy gatherings or continuing education. Each workshop consists of 4 hours of training based on the Shift materials and includes a full-color, graphically designed workbook (20-30 pages) with lots of tools and templates for further discussion/application.

Shift Networks

A minimum of 12 churches participate in a network training experience bringing teams from the local congregation to the 6 training days. During the 5 hours of training each team identifies an inward (strengthening the experience when people come) and outward (strengthening the connections in the community) focus goal to work on around the theme presented. The training includes full-color graphically designed workbooks for each participant.

Between the scheduled training days, the pastors (in groups of 4-5) meet with a coach for support in developing goals, building action plans, implementing plans, and dealing with obstacles to fulfillment.

Some congregations bring a different team (hospitality, worship, discipleship, outreach, stewardship) for each of the training days. Others have a core team that supports the work happening back at the local church.
